GAIL ON THE ISSUES
Hear from Gail Logan-Strange herself on the pressing issues
that impact the students and families of JCPS
TEACHER RECRUITMENT
I believe teachers deserve to be well paid and I think the state legislature should have approved the 11% increase in teacher pay proposed by Governor Beshear. I believe it is inequitable for a bus driver’s salary to be comparable and in some cases more than a teacher’s salary. Both positions are important to the education of our children, but teachers often make lifetime impacts on a child’s life. A more competitive salary could go a long way in the recruitment and retention of teachers.

CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP
Horace Mann, often referred to as the Father of Common Education, once said, " “Education, then, beyond all other divides of human origin, is a great equalizer of conditions of men—the balance wheel of the social machinery.” if elected to JCPS Board of Education I would like to continue to develop policies and vision that would lead to the reduction of the academic achievement gap between students of color and economically disadvantaged and other students by a minimum of 85%.
EQUITABLE ACCESS TO EDUCATION
I think each student should be afforded the opportunity to attend the school that works best for their interests and learning styles. That also includes the ability to attend a school close to their home. Which dictates that every public school has all of the human, fiscal, and facility resources it needs to help every student that chooses to attend that school flourish.

OPPOSED TO AMMENDENT 2
I am opposed to Amendment 2 which will be on the ballot in November. I am absolutely opposed to using funds designated for public schools being used to support alternative school choices. Diverting tax dollars for private schools reduces the funds that are available to public schools.
