GAIL LOGAN-STRANGE FOR JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 1

Students First
Future Focused

MEET GAIL STRANGE

Gail Logan Strange

Gail Logan-Strange serves on the Jefferson County Public School board with a commitment to improving the quality of life for the future leaders of the city. She brings many years of experience in strategic planning and leading organizational change to provide the governance and develop the policies needed to guide and continue to improve the quality of education in Jefferson County. Gail firmly believes that a quality education is critically important for every child, and that achieving this requires vision, planning, and a desire to see all children succeed.

Gail believes that the decision to remove transportation for magnet and traditional school students was both a mistake and an inequitable action. In her opinion, this decision also contributed to a breakdown in trust between the JCPS district, the Board, and the community. She emphasizes that this decision had a particularly adverse impact on the students and schools in District 1.

GAIL ON THE ISSUES

Teacher Recruitment

Gail Logan-Strange believes teachers should be well paid and support the proposed 11% pay increase by Governor Beshear, arguing that it's inequitable for bus drivers to earn comparable or higher salaries, and that better pay could improve teacher recruitment and retention.

Closing The

Achievement Gap

Gail Logan-Strange aims to continue developing policies on the JCPS Board of Education to reduce the academic achievement gap between students of color, economically disadvantaged students, and their peers by at least 85%.

Equitable Access

to Education

Gail Logan-Strange believes every student should have the opportunity to attend a school that best suits their interests and learning styles, including one close to home, with all necessary resources provided for their success.

Opposed to

Amendment 2

Gail Logan-Strange opposes Amendment 2 and believes that public school funds should not be used to support alternative school choices, as it reduces the resources available for public schools.
